Being a hometown or a home state, you won’t get an opportunity to make ‘tour’ around it. I hear people living in Agra not visiting the Taj in a long long time. It happens with most of us. Ironical isn’t it ?!
I am from Andhra Pradesh, and you might now believe that I never really saw around the state much except for Hyderabad, Tirupati and occasional visits to other places for attending marriages or otherwise (and obviously, those are not trips or tours as such).
This is the first ‘tour’ around Andhra Pradesh and I should tell , it is beautiful ! And I promise to myself this trip would be followed by many more.
(Interestingly, the song I am listening to while making this post : Gala Gala Paarutunna Godari la !!! )
Date/Time of Journey : 17th-20th November, 2010.
We went to a AP Tourism Resort called “Dindi Resort” on the borders of East and West Godavari enroute to Rajolu (and Amalapuram) from Vijayawada.
20 min from the resort is a place called Antarvedi, the meeting place of river Godavari with the Bay of Bengal ! Sangamam it is …
Fields, end-less fields of Coconut trees. May be its East Kerala !
The Chinchinada Bridge that separates East Godavari and West Godavari
The Dindi Resort
Sunset and Godavari
I recommend everyone to make a trip to these awesome places.
Bus Route : Vijayawada – > Bhimavaram -> Palakollu (a soothing and silent small village, just walk around the roads, you will love it) -> Chinchinada village (stop on the highway) enroute to Rajolu.
You can either get direct buses to Rajolu (or Amalapuram) or change buses accordingly in the above places. Total journey from vijayawada should take around Four Hours.
Train : Vijayawada -> Narsapuram (West Godavari) -> Take some local transport/Taxi to just cross the Chinchinada Bridge (you are in East Godavari) and there lies Dindi Resort.
Book your rooms in AP Tourism site for Dindi Resort in Advance.
Places from Resort :
Antarvedi (Narasimhaswamy Temple, Anna-chelli Gattu : the meeting place of Godavari and Bay of Bengal).
Perupalem Beach (nice high tides to enjoy till the evening).
Other temples and beaches amidst huge coconut and other Lush Green paddy fields.
Let me know if you need more information.
Incredible India !
