Hi All,
This is a travelogue of my own town, machilipatnam , situated on the eastern coast of the Krishna Delta, Andhra Pradesh. Being the place where we were grown up, the pics were taken with more satisfaction than picturesqueness ! The temples that we used to go every week, the school ground we played , all give a easy passage in to the childhood.
And then comes the surprise part. Most of us might not have known the inner beauty of the places in MTM ! Below and the following (Part 2) posts are the opener of the sleeping beauty, mostly covering the places which are never shown as such anywhere (and hence sacrificing the more known and common places like Koneru Center and Manginipudi Beach for space constrains, probably they will be accommodated in some other way ! ). Enjoy the childhood, the town and its glory.
Kekini Mahal , known as the Challapalli Bunglow is on the turn of Ramanaidu Peta, Machilipatnam. As magnificent as any other medieval forts, this tall building is one of the glowing prestiges of the sleeping town.
The British Times “Bandar Town Hall” , still in use for many of the major functions and programs, situated in the heart of the town.
Bandar, is definitely famous for its movie watchers, and thus the theaters, both old and the new. In the age of multiplexes and many screens, the age old singular ‘tallkies’ are worth remembering !
The campus of Andhra Jaateeya Kalasala and National College, now the standing campus for the new Krishna University, Machilipatnam
The founder branch of the Andhra Bank, with the statue of the founder, Dr Bhogaraju Pattabhi Seetha Ramayya garu.
The statue of the most prolific singer of Andhra, Padmasri Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao, in front of the Lions Club Golden Jubilee Hall
The recently constructed super magnificent Sai Baba statue. The statue in about 54 feet in height.
The campus of the District and Sessions Court, Machilipatnam
The designer of the Indian National Flag, Sri Pingali Venakayya Statue, next to the Chilakalapudi police station, machilipatnam
Cyclone Detection Radar Station of the Indian Meterological Department, Machilipatnam
The mostly unknown Agricultural Research Institute, affiliated to the Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University
The movie mania, simply described. The compound wall and the buildings of the oldest college in Machilipatnam, The Noble College
The beautiful and a very big LIC Divisional Office, Machilipatnam
The Venkateswara and Shiva Temple, Batchupet, Machilipatnam
