The Amdavadi etiquette which you witness with your first step in Ahmedabad is indeed a thing that will make you fall in love with the city in your first visit itself. In my last trip to Ahmedabad, the demeanor of an Amdavadi is what I witnessed not after stepping in the city but much before that in the train itself. I was accompanied by a family who was from Ahmedabad, and the way they helped me in everything throughout the trip was enough to show the essence of the city from a distance.
After greeting them a goodbye on reaching the station, I was glad that not only the family but the whole city was way too friendly to welcome a guest warmly into their city. A week’s stay in the city and I was euphoric about the city.
Here I tell you, why I love the city and, I am sure it will sway you as well.
Cleanliness is next to Godliness:
The first thing which I noticed as soon as I got down from the train was the clean and shiny platform following the entire city. The city, where Mahatma Gandhi built the Sabarmati Ashram, has justified to the preachings given by the Father of Nation on cleanliness. The city was crystal clear throughout, and I loved it. It’s not only in the name, but it is well maintained to attract its visitors.
Travel, Experiences and Memories:
My visit to Ahmedabad captured many memories of a lifetime for me. The place where I found my inner peace, Sabarmati Ashram is indeed a serene place to spend an entire day. Other locations like Teen Darwaza, Sarkhej Roza, Hathi Singh Jain Temple, Swami Narayan Temple, The Pranlal Bhogilal Auto World Vintage Car Museum and more were indeed picturesque and worth a visit. And, you can cleverly save money on your travel expenses by availing the discount coupons on cabs like Ola, Uber, Meru, etc. and visit these beautiful places in the city.
Confessions of a Shopaholic:
If you are a mall-rat or love to shop all day long, then Ahmedabad is the best place to give wings to your shopping spree. The bandhej sarees or the meenakari jewelry, you will get them all here in this city. The shops were alluring me to come and grab them all and I was unable to control my urge to buy things. I just allowed my feet to follow my love for shopping and went around the streets of Ahmedabad.
Hub for Food Lovers:
The Gujarati Cuisine is indeed loved by all the people, throughout India. The Dhoklas, Khakras and Pafras are indeed the most famous names, we are all familiar with. But, in Ahmedabad, you can enjoy eating your other favorites like the khandvi rolls, dal vada, aloo poha, Chinese bhel, mini samosa, chana chor garam and not to forget the Gujarati Thali. You can savor the tastes of Gujarat in Ahmedabad at anytime and anywhere including the famous Manek Chowk, Khaau Gali and the Law Garden. And if you are not interested in stepping out of your hotel rooms you can order online from Food Panda, Swiggy, Faasos etc. and use food discount offers to save money on your total bills. Meanwhile, do not forget to visit the Revolving Restaurant of Ahmedabad, from where you can have the glimpse of the entire city while you relish on your favorite dish.
Love Movies, just Drive-in:
If you are a movie buff, Ahmedabad will give you a similar experience as shown in films to watch them with your loved ones. You can visit the Drive-in of Ahmedabad to enjoy watching the cinema under the sky. PVR, Cinemax, Imax, is all usual places for the movie buffs to watch one, but the experience to watch movies in the open theater, is splendid.
Well, the trip to Ahmedabad was incredible, and I would love to visit it again and again to experience and endeavor the love and warmth of the Amdavadis.
